TATI lives in Barack's old office, and although the family resides a couple of blocks away these days, he doesn't come by any more for a sandwich at Windy's deli or a trim and a shave from Hunter. But what you might not realize, and something that the national media has missed, is that candidate Obama is quite the cyclist. And while he has neither the time nor security detail to join his neighbors the Tonys for a three hour sojourn across the Indiana border, you might be surprised to learn that Barack can handle himself on a track bike.
Yes, after a long evening of calls to financial patrons, after tucking in the girls and reading them a bedtime story, after snuggling with Michelle and plotting the next 24 hours of campaigning with his young staff, you'll often find the man himself darting up and down Greenwood -- much to the chagrin of the phalanx of secret service personnel. He'll skid, bar spin, and endo-into-a-wheelie until the sun comes up, when it's time for a quick breakfast, shower, and morning conference call.
That whole Trek hybrid thing, as we all know, was simply a photo op. For the swing state vote. But we in the neighborhood all know Barack really rides a fixie.
